Mount Scopus (Hebrew: Har HaTzofim) is a mountain (elevation: 2710 feet or 826 meters above sea level) in northeast Jerusalem. Overlooking Jerusalem, Mount Scopus has been strategically important as a base from which to attack the city since antiquity.

He received international acclaim for his performances of the music of Frédéric Chopin, Johannes Brahms and his championing of the music of Spanish composers. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century. Rubinstein died in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 20, 1982, at the age of 95, and his body was cremated. On the first anniversary of his death, an urn holding his ashes was buried in Jerusalem — as specified in his will — in a dedicated plot now dubbed "Rubinstein Forest" overlooking the Jerusalem Forest.
